Historical Art-Deco Building
Featuring a beautiful and historic Art Deco façade and the iconic WPEN neon sign, 2212-14 Walnut Street – affectionately known as the WPEN Building – stands as a landmark and gateway between Center City and University City. The original structure predates the 20th century but building received a completely new façade, interior ironwork structure, and internal floor restructuring by notable architect Ralph Bencker in 1928. The granite and bronze façade and original windows, as well as the original WPEN neon sign were restored in 2009 and now the evenings along Walnut Street are illuminated by the attention grabbing beauty of the building.

2212-14 Walnut Street is a 3 story + basement building of roughly 17000SF. It is zoned RC4 – mixed use, and is also in the Rittenhouse Historical District which provides for protection of the historic façade. Any changes to the outward appearance and signage of the north facing facade (Walnut Street side) is subject to approval of the Philadelphia Historical Commission as well as the usual city zoning, arts, and licensing & inspections approvals.
The building is excellently situated in Center City in close proximity to Rittenhouse Square, 30th Street Station, multiple public transit lines, and parking lots featuring daily, monthly, and carshare parking. Walnut Street is the major east-west thoroughfare linking Center City and University City, and is heavily traveled by pedestrians, particularly during morning and evening rushes.
